Another inspo pic! My inspiration for Kinsley, the heroine in Sight Beyond the Sun, began with the desire to keep book 2 fresh, despite it being a sequel. In Beyond the Next Star (book 1), the story opens with Delaney having accepted her fate as a pet. She doesn’t correct anyone’s assumptions about her intelligence, and in fact, she deliberately emulates the actions of an animal to fool everyone, hiding in plain sight from the murderer waiting on her misstep. Consequently, I decided to make Kinsley the exact opposite: she rages against her captivity and actively develops and implements an elaborate prison break… in outer space.
